The tour of B-Reactor held many points of interest. I enjoyed the time thoroughly. The "B Reactor" was the first large-scale nuclear reactor that produced Plutonium in the two atomic weapons used in WWII. Hanford reactors go into full production to produce the materials in Cold War era nuclear missile arsenal. I felt awed by the reactor core, small in relation to the landscape, isolated in the vast space (the reservation is over 600 square miles), and surprised at the factor aspect. | |
