The great Russian winter asserted itself this afternoon and it was wonderful! It has snowed for the past five hours. I am attempting this short post from my phone, a first for me on Weebly. In our morning session at the U.S. Embassy, we received a "spot on" overview of political, economic, and cultural events in Russia. The staff spoke plainly and offered insightful anecdotes. A simple lunch place called "Moo Moo's" satisfied my modest appetite after eating a five star hotel breakfast. An hour to wander allowed souvenir shopping while we waited for our Kremlin Armory experience. I found a Russian McDonald's restaurant PACKED with people. The tour of precious artifacts in the Museum of the Kremlin would be simply summarized as ornate, gilded, and elaborate! Photographs were not allowed on the tour so I included the link above.
As departure date draws near, my excitement builds greatly. There is anxiety and stress related to the finalizing of details, packing, currency exchange, credit card usage, and substitute planning. I am at peace that "it will all work out, or it won't." I am pleased for the Morocco and Ghana groups that are experiencing their travel as of this moment. Let the countdown commence!
I wonder at this point if the trip will even be a "go." Will political issues and concerns cause a "no fly" situation? I think of the people to meet, students to see, food to eat, and the mental overload that comes with great amounts of input. I am working hard at this blog and site, over preparing lessons to teach (if needed), and thinking about what to pack. Setting up lesson plans for five days absence and using my "personal" days are a bit of a burden. I have connected Weebly to my limited use of FaceBook - I know not to what outcome.
I feel well pleased with the progress I am now making on the "weebly" platform. I am liking the way the webpage is coming together, placing links into the text, adding pages, and polishing the products.
Hi - Thanks for reading. As a part of an amazing educational opportunity for teachers titled "Teachers for Global Classrooms," I am accepting the assignment of writing a blog. This is a steep learning curve for a middle aged person. To date I have lost my web "pages" twice, formatted and reformatted pictures, changed fonts, and features, and still am unable to figure drop down sub-pages. It is a start - not good, not bad.
