Moscow to Michurinsk, Russia
April 3 - April 10, 2014 The town of Michurinsk is located 5 hours south of Moscow by train. My memories of the experience are fading a bit and assisted by photographs. Overall impressions include: 1) wonderful students wanting to learn and practice English, 2) terrible, deep pot holes in roads, 3) proud histories everywhere you go explaining each detail, 4) hospitality by those that cared for us, distancing indifference from nearly everyone else, 5) hearty food that fuels hard work, 6) a sense of time urgency in the school setting, 7) obvious meetings of old and new - construction, upgrades, technologies, and vehicles, 8) general judgments, even suspicion relating to regionalism and nationalism, 9) buses, vans, and taxis frequently present, and 10) life is hard for a great majority. |
MICHURINSK LYCEUM SCHOOL WEBSITE In advance of the trip, Yaroslava, our host, offered her school website. I took a few of the pictures from the site to place here as a slide show. They will have greater meaning soon, but my initial perception of the school is clean, formal, respectful, rigorous, fun, and in pursuit of excellence. I look forward to the visit. http://michlycee.68edu.ru |
