Spokane, WA to New York City, NY
March 28 - March 29, 2014 Since learning of the travel plans heading to Russia, I knew that I would have a day to explore New York City. The tickets from GEG to JFK left at 4:30P, with layover and night flight via SLC. A traveling companion, Jeff O., and I met up in Salt Lake. My heart desired a trip to Ground Zero, riding subway, and seeing as much of the "Big Apple" as possible. While trying to map my trip, I learned that there are two common heights to view NYC - the Empire State Building or the Rockefeller Center. I chose the hipster not the history this time and bought a ticket to the "Top of the Rock." The day included seeing the Staten Island Ferry terminal, riding subway, eating pizza, standing on Broadway, and visiting the New York Public Library. It rained and the city pulsed. I thoroughly enjoyed my day in NYC. The weather discouraged my plan for a walk in Central Park. |
