Spokane, WA to New Orleans, LA
July 25 - 31, 2015 Arrival in the "Big Easy" came after a day of overnight travel. My initial impressions of the city come from taking three bus legs to the downtown. The city holds interesting street names of French, Confederate, historic, African-American, and nearly every other group represented. I find the Warehouse district industrial, and feeling a bit like the port of Tacoma in Washington - it is a place where work takes place. The film "Beyond All Boundaries" in 4-D on Sunday evening was amazing with bubbled snowflakes, air blowing, violent shaking of seats, searchlights scanning the audience, and other effects that really thrilled me. Tom Hanks is the face and mouthpiece of the film. Gary Sinise as Ernie Pyle voice was stunning. Our dinner was fantastic. Steak, chicken, medley of grilled vegetables, red and white wine, lovely chocolate raspberry dessert. Introductions exposed class participants from Korea, Australia, and across the U.S. |
