| Our day started in the street market in Michurinsk, including the purchase of handmade gifts and viewing the local community buying groceries for the week. The homebase in Michurinsk was the Hotel Maki (poppies). The fish was fresh (still alive). The meat was being processed as we watched. Photography was frowned upon by locals. Yaroslava found a natural gem shop for nicer gift selection. Later in My second suitcase is now empty of teaching materials, but full of arts and crafts. The day continued with a visit to a rural orthodox church with a parrish priest. |

After observing the public confessions of children and adults to the priest, and the drenching generous spashing of holy water, we were invited to eat a humbly prepared dinner in our honor. I took a picture of the most amazing apple pie I have ever eaten. On Sunday in the late afternoon we watched a final dress rehearsal of traditional Russian dance, then a final stop for matryoshka dolls and handcrafted souvenirs. Yes, it continues, then a BBQ style meal at a "cabin" - like structure just outside of town.
